The Chorley children were all elderly when I was a child. They all caught the train to Mass at Epping on Sundays, when well enough. They had a kind of social engineering happening. My father was good to have resident because he was a policeman, and the previous policeman was well post-retirement in the early 50s. The Cheltenham Kindergarten was held at the Congregational Church, and Mrs. Spiers and Miss Keating were Early Childhood Education teachers. Play area across the road consisted of a wooden Roundabout, and a jungle jim in the grounds of the church. The grounds were covered with tan bark, and the freesias used to come through every year, in their thousands.
