Mayor for the year 1902. Alderman 1901, 1903 – 1904. Died 12th May, 1925
(From The Cumberland Argus, May 15th, 1925) Tuesday at Dee-Why death claimed a one-time well-known citizen of Parramatta, in Mr. Edward Pascoe Pearce. For quite a lengthy period Mr. Pearce had been a patient sufferer, but his end came rather suddenly. He was probably best known in Parramatta as an auctioneer and proprietor of saleyards, having for many years conducted bi-weekly sales at premises in Church-street and George-street. He was a public-spirited man, and during his residence in this town was associated with nearly the whole of its public activities. For a number of years he sat at the council table, and in 1902-03 occupied the Mayoral chair. He was an enthusiastic member of the local School of Arts and was for a time president of the institution. Deceased was also actively associated with Parramatta Bowling Club and was recognised as one of the leading players. He was also devoted to music as were the members of his family. Some years ago he removed to Mudgee where he carried on business for a time, but subsequently transferred his attention to the city. Mr. Pearce was a man of commanding appearance and of cultured attainments, and was a conspicuous figure in any company. He was 65 at the time of his death and leaves a widow and grown-up family …. the funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, when the remains were laid to rest in the Western Road cemetery, Parramatta.
