Volunteer

our volunteers

We offer opportunities for individuals who want to volunteer their time, energy and expertise to help preserve and make the rich history of Parramatta accessible to everyone.

As a member of our volunteer team, you can choose to participate in projects here at the Heritage Centre or work on them from the comfort of your own home.

Volunteer opportunities exist across the areas of archives, collection management and conservation, library, research, local studies and genealogy.

If you are interested in volunteering, please complete and submit the Volunteer Registration Form. An example of a particular skillset is contained in the position description for a Research Assistant Volunteer.

City of Parramatta Archives – current opportunities

The City of Parramatta Archives currently has two online volunteer opportunities available.

Project 1: We are uploading digital copies of our historic Granville Council minutes (1885-1948) to be transcribed as part of our Digivol Project. You can sign up to participate in transcribing these expeditions on the Digivol website by following the instructions here.

Project 2: We are working on a project to have our transcriptions of historic Parramatta Council minutes (1862-1945) formatted and made available online for the first time. If you would like to participate in this project, please read the position description. Interested candidates can apply by sending a short statement (no more than 500 words) explaining your skills and interest in relation to this role, and a copy of your CV addressed to the Heritage Archivist, Paige Davis, at: localstudies@cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au.

The City of Parramatta respectfully recognises the traditional owners of the land and waters of Parramatta, the Darug peoples.
Sensitivity notice: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers are advised that this website may contain images and voices of deceased ancestors.
