We welcome offers of material for our Cultural Collections and Community Archives. Your offers help us to record, share and interpret the fascinating history of our city and neighbourhoods.
The type of material we collect includes archives, artwork, photographs, published books, maps, ephemera and objects. Donations may be in a digital format.
To manage our collections appropriately we have adopted best practice guidelines.
Cultural Collections
To ensure best practice collection management we accept collection material only if it meets our collection criteria.

Community Archives
The aim of the Community Archives is to acquire archival material created by the community that relates to the social history and development of the Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA).
To make an offer to our Community Archives, please complete our donation form and return via email.
We generally do not accept material that is in poor condition, a duplicate of material we already hold, not sufficiently relevant to the Parramatta Local Government area or comprises a size or format that we are not able to store appropriately.
Once we receive your form, we will assess your offer and get it touch to let you know whether we are able to accept the material. You can expect to hear back from us within 30 days of submitting the form.
If we are to progress with the donation, a formal acquisition process is followed. Material will become wholly the property of City of Parramatta Council. All copyright and production rights are to be transferred to the City of Parramatta Council upon donation, and access to material needs to be open and immediate. Material will only be accepted without legal encumbrances. Once the donation is accepted, City of Parramatta Council has the right to accession, display and dispose of collection material, in accordance with the relevant policies and legislation.
