Pandemic in Parramatta

Join us for an online exhibition that reflects upon the City of Parramatta’s responses to two pandemics, one hundred years apart.

By exploring archival correspondence files relating to the Pneumonic Influenza, or "Spanish 'Flu", pandemic we are able to discover and reflect upon the similarities of civic responses in 1919 to issues affecting us today, including contact tracing, public hygiene, financial relief, quarantine and medical services. The exhibition also provides access to more detailed information relating to Parramatta's experiences during the 1919 Pneumonic Influenza pandemic.
