Parramatta Women

Maria Lock

Parramatta Women

Today women are making strides and breaking barriers. Women have strengths from kindness to perseverance which make women strong and beautiful. Parramatta Women is to celebrate the contributions and sacrifices made by significant aboriginal women, florist, librarian, Olympians, nurses, midwives and volunteers in world war one.

International Women's Day in Parramatta 2022

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a celebration of women’s achievements. It is celebrated around the world on 8 March. This year’s global theme is “Break The Bias.”

The theme acknowledges a world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.

To celebrate International Women’s Day in 2022, Parramatta History and Heritage has brought together a collection of stories recognising the contributions of some incredible women in Parramatta history.
